Frequently Asked Questions
How long will you be there on the day?
As my package states – I will be with you from Bridal Prep (hair and make-up) all the way through to about an hour after the first dance. I don’t have any set times or cut-off points so this way I cover everything important throughout the day but also get a bit of the dancing before leaving you to enjoy the rest of the evening!
How far in advance should i consider booking you?
As I tell everyone with this question, the earlier the better when it comes to booking your videographer. We will tend to be pretty booked up for the following year by the middle to end of the previous year so it’s best to secure this when you can, epecially if you have a popular date in summer. You can secure your date with me for £200 to make sure you don’t miss out.
What area do you cover?
I am based in Hertfordshire but will look to travel anywhere in the UK and abroad. Travel is included for anywhere within 100 miles but outside of this I will need to look at charging extra for petrol/accommodation/flights if needed.
what style of wedding film do you specialise in?
I like to describe my style as both natural and cinematic with a story-driven element. I don’t use any fancy gimbals or use any fast movements or quick cuts, but like to portray the day as it was, using audio snippets from the day to help drive and tell your story.
Emotion is a big part of my films – I want you to feel moved when you watch the films back and to be reminded of all those feelings you had on your wedding day.
Do we get to pick our own songs?
I do have to use licensed music tracks in my films for copyright reasons.
I do try to pick a track that fits with you guys and the wedding day itself but understand you may have a certain suggestion or vibe you want to go for. I am happy for couples to pick songs but I ask that you pick songs I can legally ‘buy’. I am signed up to a subscription website with thousands of songs on that I can license, so I’m happy to send a link over and you can pick your top 5-10 and I can then pick from there a song that best fits the rhythm and the film. I hope that makes sense.
If you wanted to license songs from popular artists, firstly the license may not be obtainable and if it is it could be hundreds or thousands..
At the end of the day though it’s one of my tools to tell your story emotionally and cinematically, which I think is why you are trusting me with such an important responsibility and like to think couples will pick me and trust me with choosing appropriate songs to help tell the story whilst conveying the emotion of the day.
How are the videos delivered to me?
I deliver all my couples wedding videos via online media storage platform mediazilla. One your films are ready you will receive an email with a link that takes you straight to your personal website effectively. On here you’ll have a aesthetically pleasing homepage with links to each of your videos (feature film, highlights, ceremony & speeches). You can stream the films straight from the site or choose to download them from here.
This is great for sharing as you can decide to share the full collection of films with any friends, or choose to link them to certain videos only (just the highlights for example).
With things going more and more digital by the year, I feel this method is best as it adds security but also allows you to download the files and distribute them how you wish from there.
How long will it be before we can see the films?
You will receive your 4 wedding videos within 6-8 weeks after your wedding day.
Do you film both the bride and groom getting ready?
As I tend to work alone mainly, I focus mainly on the Bride preparations in the morning, however I am happy to get some of the groom getting ready if he is getting at the same location or very close by.
If however, the groom is not nearby, and groom prep is something you would really like I can look to bring on a second videographer for the day. Just let me know and I can price for this addition.
WIll you get in the way at our wedding?
As you’ve probably read in the about me section of my site, I will always be as discreet and non-invasive as possible on the day. I use minimal equipment and will move around and blend in to capture as many natural shots as I can.
I don’t have any overbearing or intimidating equipment and 90% of the day I film handheld so it is just me, my small camera and my camera strap. The only exception to this is the Ceremony & Speeches where I will be using a monopod (or my arms might fall off..) and even then I will be off to the side and out of the way as not to cause a distraction.
Saying this, I am very socialable and am happy to talk to anyone that approaches me and get involved with your guests, I generally get a feel for this on the day and will go along with the vibe of your day.
we like what we see, can we meet you to discuss further?
Of course! The most important thing is that you feel comfortable with your videographer and feel they are a right fit for you. After all they are going to be there for a large chunk of the wedding day.
I am always happy to meet or chat over a zoom call to find out a bit about yourselves as well as giving you a chance to get to know me better. I will run through how everything works on your wedding day, how I operate and where I will be at what times and answer any further questions you may have.
There is no obligation to go ahead with me so please let me know if you have some time and would like to chat further with me and I’ll be more than happy to sit down with you in person or over zoom.
